Upper limb cellulitis

A&E management

Assess for systemic and joint sepsis. Take obs (BP, HR, temp etc), take bloods (FBC, U&Es, CRP)

Follow-ip

Refer to oncall ortho team for severe cellulitis that require IV antibiotics

Compartment syndrome

A&E management

Careful assessment of neurovascular status, perform limb x ray to look for fracture

Follow-ip

Refer to Ortho on-call

Open fractures

A&E management

Careful assessment of wound (documented), image wound, give antibiotics, cover wound with saline soaked gauze.

Refer to Ortho oncall

Necrotising fasciitis

A&E management

treat sepsis, obtain baseline bloods, VBG, limb x ray
